Abstract
In this paper, model-order reduction is applied to the neutral-particle transport equation. The reduced-order model is constructed using proper orthogonal decomposition with the method of snapshots. The full-order transport model we considered is discretized using discrete ordinates with unweighted and weighted diamond differencing in space and angle, and thus employs a transport-based (or matrix-free) solution technique. We show that this method is accurate for Reed's problem in one energy group and plan to extend it to multi-group applications in the full paper.
