Research Interests
R. Lazarov's research is primarily in the area of numerical approximation of partial differential equations and efficient solution techniques for the resulting algebraic problems. His expertise includes construction, stability and convergence analysis of finite element, finite difference, and finite volume approximations, least-squares, discontinuous Galerkin method, development and analysis of iterative methods, domain decomposition, a posteriori error control and adaptive grid refinement, and scientific computations with industrial applications.
- Current Research Projects
- Least-squares finite element approximations for partial differential equations and systems of equations
- Finite volume methods for steady-state and transient problems, adaptive grid refinement and error control
- Penalty and mortar finite element approximations on non-matching grids
- Modeling and numerical simulation of fluid flows in porous media
